Down time

Written on July 3, 2006

Ontora has been down over the past several weeks. The site was not neglected, but our host has crapped out on us. Long story short, they were banned from their ISP and have no way to bring things back online. Unfortunantly this means we have lost everything — posts and all.

If anything, this has been a lesson in the importance of backing work up locally. We relied on our host for backups since they supposedly backed the databases up daily. However, it doesn’t do any good if they can’t even get online.

The past few weeks have been extremely stressful. Waiting and waiting for a response from our host, eventually calling it quits, searching for a new host, dealing with their tech support, and falling back on Wordpress.com. At this point I am calling it quits on reseller hosting. I am fed up dealing with support tickets and other impossible devices. We will be hosted remotely at Wordpress.com until we can get the hosting situation settled.

Even though it was not necessarily my fault, I can’t help but feel I have let our readers down. We have left you out in the cold for too long. Over the next few weeks I will do my best to return Ontora to working order.

As for the old posts, I will try to dig up what I can and repost it. For the most part I will be focusing on new interesting posts. Thanks for sticking with us everyone,

Brandon
