Yahoo! gets botoxed
Written on August 8, 2006
It was about time Yahoo! got a fresh design. The new look drops the fruity colors and offers an attractive and efficient homepage.
Old
New
I am not a Yahoo person myself. Their goal seems to be to own every possible type of web content and tool under the Yahoo brand. When I want to buy a car, I don’t think Yahoo Auto, I think Autotrader.com. When I want to search the web I don’t think Yahoo.com, I think Google. I once used Yahoo religiously for searching the web, but since they expanded years ago I’ve found their services to be too general and mediocre.
The new Yahoo has really improved the user interface. As time passed, they had stuffed new features onto the existing design. The new layout incorperates all of these to deliver a very attractive page.
One of the biggest improvements is the logo and search box. Moving the logo to the left and putting the search on the right works surprisingly well. It’s also incredibly effecient considering ‘Search’ is the first thing you see when you open up the page.
I really dig the new look and I would be all over it if I was interested their services.
