Google testing a new homepage
Written on August 8, 2006
Apparently Google is testing a new homepage design. I understand that Google is trying to organize their site, but this seems to only complicate things further.
Unfortunately Google has a specific selection process for testing design prototypes, so there is no way to test the layout unless you happen to be one of the lucky few. As Philipp stated, it seems highly unlikely that this design will ever make it out of testing.
A lot of Google’s prototypes lately are moving the menu to the left of the page. I have no problem with the menu where it is. Infact, it seems much more organized and user-friendly to have the links above the search box.
