The best Firefox ad ever
Written on March 2, 2007
The Mozilla Foundation and the Get Firefox community have been on a roll lately. The advertising efforts have definitely paid off. This is one ad that you’ve probably never seen though. While it was a real poster created by Mozilla, the campaign was cancelled at the last minute.
This ad started as a SpreadFirefox.com project to promote the browser on college campuses. The result of the effort was a hilarious condom-parody touting Firefox’ security features, with the slogan, “Always use protection.”
The Mozilla Foundation commented, “everyone involved loved it and we were days from taking it to print.” Unfortunately, the poster was scrapped due to concerns that it would offend some people.
You can also grab the high-res 1024×768 version of the poster here.
