WordPress: Embedding YouTube videos

Written on January 16, 2007

I love WordPress, and think it’s the best blogging platform by all means. However, I always find it annoying that it doesn’t support YouTube or Google Videos by default.

The easiest way to fix this is just turn the visual rich editor off. To do this, go to your account page from the admin panel and check the box in the bottom left corner. That’s it. You can now embed flash objects in your posts.

The other method is to get a YouTube/Google Video plugin for WordPress. I’ve tried several different plugins, and only one or two actually did what I wanted them to. I suggest the WordPress Video Plugin. If that doesn’t work for you, check out the WordPress codex.
