Monetizing with AdSense
Written on December 3, 2006
So you want to start making money on the web, huh? The easiest way to get started is Google AdSense. Google has made it simple enough that anyone with a little internet experience can get started making money.
The truth is that AdSense is not very profitable for you or the advertisers. The only one making bank from the deal is Google. Generating large amounts of AdSense revenue from a single website is unlikely, unless you get tons of traffic.
The best way for beginners to monetize a website with AdSense is good ol’ content. Find a niche topic, make a great website about it with tons of content, get it known, and put some AdSense on it. It may take a couple months, but you’ll eventually start to see a profit turn. Don’t expect anything too extravagant — a dollar a day from one site is a great achievement.
The basic rule for AdSense is keyword-rich content. AdSense is specifically designed to complement articles because it can match the ads with keywords on your page. Keep this in mind when writing to monetize.
AdSense isn’t the best option for everything. For example, Google ad blocks aren’t going to work very well with web applications. So if you’re setting your sights on the “Google dream,” content will remain supreme.
